Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD):

The computer-based technique known as computational fluid dynamics (CFD), or flow simulation, is used to analyse fluid flow around or through an object. At each location in the flow field, it computes several fluid parameters, including mass flow, velocity, temperature, and pressure. The interaction between fluids and solid boundaries, including fluiddynamic forces and heat transfer rates—both important for stress analysis—can be reliably predicted by CFD.

Discrete Element Method (DEM)

A numerical method called the Discrete Element Method (DEM) is used to simulate the behaviour of many tiny particles. DEM takes complex geometries and rotational degrees of freedom into account, in contrast to molecular dynamics. It is now possible to simulate millions of particles with efficiency thanks to advances in processing power. Applications for DEM can be found in powder mechanics, rock mechanics, granular flows, and other technical domains. Furthermore, heat transport, chemical processes, and coupling with Finite Element Method (FEM) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) are all included in the Extended Discrete Element Method (EDEM), which is an extension of DEM.
